The Assistant Designer, Packaging supports the design and development of licensed packaging solutions in line with retailer and licensor guidelines. This role works under the guidance of senior team members to help execute packaging projects from concept through final proof, ensuring accuracy, brand consistency, and timely delivery while building foundational technical and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of packaging designs required by the business, adhering to established retailer, licensor, and brand guidelines.
  • Assist in preparing packaging artwork from CAD stage through costing and final proof, incorporating feedback as directed.
  • Implement design amends based on licensor, retailer, or internal feedback, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Assist with submitting packaging designs for licensor and retailer approval, tracking feedback and next steps.
  • Support the proofing and sampling process with nominated suppliers and third-party partners to ensure consistency in brand execution.
  • Help maintain clear documentation and version control throughout the approval process.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the packaging library, including incorporating licensor updates or changes as directed.
  • Help ensure packaging assets are organized, current, and accessible to cross-functional partners.
  • Support seasonal competitor packaging shop reports and basic market research to build awareness of trends and retail execution.
  • Compile findings for review by senior designers or leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal partners (e.g., design, merchandising, sourcing, and digital teams) to support packaging needs.
  • Assist with visual updates or assets as needed to support the business website or digital touchpoints.

Requirements

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in packaging, graphic, or product design (internships or co-op experience acceptable)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with guidance
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn within a fast-paced environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with branded or retail-focused design is a plus
