Key Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping: Day-to-day bookkeeping and maintaining accurate financial records
  • VAT Returns: Preparation and submission of VAT returns across a range of industries
  • Payroll: Processing payroll for clients, including PAYE, NI, and pension contributions
  • CIS (Construction Industry Scheme): Managing CIS returns, ensuring compliance, and liaising with contractors
  • Accounts Administration: Handling administrative duties such as filing, data entry, collecting documents, and managing deadlines
  • Accounts Production: Assisting with the preparation of year-end and management accounts, depending on experience
  • Preparing accounts up to trial balance
  • Analysing profit and loss accounts and balance sheets
  • Posting and reviewing accruals and prepayments
  • Preparing monthly management accounts
  • Preparing year-end accounts
  • Collaborating with other team members (including remote team members) to ensure consistent and high-quality client service delivery
  • Using a range of accounting and payroll software, including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and others

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Ideally part-qualified or qualified AAT / ACCA / ACA (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax legislation, and technical updates
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within an accountancy practice
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Comfortable using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
  • Familiarity with IRIS, TaxCalc, BrightPay, and Moneysoft Payroll is desirable
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
