Qualifications:
  • Must be a minimum of twenty-one years of age.
  • Able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Pass interview process, background check, and physical examination.
  • Able to attend, without absence or lateness, up to two months of training.
License:
  • Candidates must have at least three (3) years driving experience and own a valid non probationary driver’s license. Time driving under a provisional license does not count towards this requirement.
  • Possess a driving record that is in good standing with less than five (4) accumulated points.
  • Able to obtain NJ CDL permit pre-hire.
Current CDL holder license provisions:
  • NJ CDL, with the ability to obtain Passenger and Air Brake endorsements (obtained while in training)
  • NY or PA CDL, with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements prior to the time of an interview

  • $6,000 Signing Bonus for CDL A or B License Holders (must have air brake and passenger endorsement) *
  • $3,000 Signing Bonus for CDL A or B Permit Holders with air brake and passenger endorsement (also CDL A or B licenses holders that have either air brake or passenger endorsement)*
  • Full benefit package including medical, prescription, dental and vision
  • Pension plan plus 457 tax-deferred savings plan
  • Starting pay rate of $25.24 per hour with current top pay rate of $36.06/hour

  • Assistance obtaining your CDL (for NJ drivers only)
This position is deemed safety sensitive per the Department of Transportation (DOT) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations. The DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of marijuana for any reason. It is unacceptable for any safety-sensitive employee subject to drug testing under DOT regulations to use recreational or medical marijuana. The prohibition includes any derivative of marijuana such as CBD oils, teas, etc. The use of recreational and medical marijuana is a violation of NJ TRANSIT’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy for safety-sensitive employees.
