Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) (Remote. FMM) Filmmakers Mart is a venture-backed marketplace revolutionizing film production services across Africa, with a US parent entity and operations in multiple countries. Having recently raised $1m+ in funding, we are expanding rapidly and seeking a strategic, data-driven CFO to lead our financial operations through the next phase of growth. Position Summary Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will be responsible for shaping and executing the company’s financial strategy, managing multi-entity operations, and building scalable systems to support our expansion across Africa. The ideal candidate will bring experience in high-growth startups (post-Series A) and a proven track record of managing complexity in multi-market environments. Key Responsibilities • Strategic Financial Leadership • Develop and execute financial strategies to support scaling operations and market expansion. • Drive financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring alignment with company goals. • Manage relationships with investors and the board, providing timely financial updates and leading future fundraising efforts. • Oversee treasury management, optimizing cash flow across multiple African currencies. • Data Systems and Analytics • Implement robust financial systems and dashboards to enhance data visibility and decision-making. • Create metrics to track ROI on investments and inform strategic growth decisions. • Develop automated reporting tools for consolidated multi-entity operations. • Champion data-driven insights for improving profitability and operational efficiency. • Multi-Entity and Cross-Border Management • Oversee financial operations across African markets, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and currency management. • Manage reporting and consolidation for the US parent entity, adhering to Delaware and US federal compliance standards. • Build scalable processes for seamless financial integration across jurisdictions. • Team Leadership and Governance • Build and lead a high-performing finance team, ensuring strong internal controls and compliance frameworks. • Mentor and develop team members across diverse geographies. • Partner with the executive team on strategic decisions, including new product launches and geographic expansion. • US Compliance and Governance • Manage US tax filings, Delaware corporate governance requirements, and franchise tax compliance. • Ensure integrity and compliance of the parent entity’s financial operations. Key Qualifications • 10+ years of experience in finance, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles (CFO, VP Finance). • Proven track record in high-growth startups, particularly post-Series A and beyond ($1M–$50M ARR). • Expertise in multi-entity financial management, preferably across African markets and a Delaware parent company structure. • Strong knowledge of US tax laws, corporate governance, and compliance. • Advanced financial modeling, data analytics, and dashboard development skills. • Marketplace business model experience is highly desirable. • MBA/CPA preferred, with demonstrated strategic leadership capabilities. • Strategic thinking and operational excellence. • Strong communication skills for managing stakeholder and investor relations. • Hands-on approach to building systems and solving operational challenges. • Deep understanding of African market dynamics and cross-border complexities. • Ability to lead and inspire diverse teams across multiple geographies.
