Construction Project Manager

The construction project manager is responsible for the delivery of M&C UK construction projects; they oversee the planning, execution and completion of the projects. These projects will need to comply with applicable regulations, permits, licenses and legislative requirements and internal procedures and policies with an efficient balance of cost, quality and time.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.</li><li>Collaborate with contractors, architects, and other partners.</li><li>Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and financial targets are met.</li><li>Ensure that projects are delivered in full compliance with permits, licenses and authorizations including CDM and Building Regulations, and stated requirements, and that value engineering is applied to deliver a specification fully compliant with internal technical standards for optimum cost of delivery.</li><li>Manage contractors through the project through effective communication and leadership and regular programme meetings, site visits and construction meetings and feedback. </li><li>Regularly update partners on project status, including progress, budget, and any risks or issues.</li><li>Address any delays, risks, issues or other problems that arise during the project.</li><li>Ensure adherence to BP Control of Work practices and policies in the control of high-risk activities and adherence to the Life Saving Rules.</li><li>Support with supplier relationship management process and escalation of performance issues.</li><li>Accountable for ensuring compliance with all processes and that documentation is fully complete for each project including pre-construction packs, handover documentation and procedures, as built drawings, project safety files.</li><li>Ensure that lessons learned from previous projects and from the operation of existing sites are fed-back to the design phase of new projects, to reduce the total cost of ownership.</li><li>Support and coach assistant project managers.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the construction team.</li><li>Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities and required by the business.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Role Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>Degree in construction management, engineering or related field or equivalent experience.</li><li>Charted project professional e.g. APM.</li><li>Driving license</li><li>Experience as a construction project manager, ideally having worked in mobility, energy or retail.</li><li>Track record in programme or project management from feasibility through to construction and commissioning</li><li>Track record in managing multi-disciplinary project teams.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Skills<br><br></strong><ul><li>Excellent communication skills</li><li>Excellent partner management</li><li>Experience of financially managing projects</li><li>Experience in petrol forecourt construction or maintenance is desirable</li><li>Experience of managing retail projects and programmes of work is desirable</li><li>Demonstrable experience of managing contractors in the safe delivery of projects</li><li>Familiar with administering and managing the JCT suite of contra<br><br></li></ul>Why join our team?<br><br>At bp, we provide an excellent working environment and employee benefits such as an open and inclusive culture, a great work-life balance, tremendous learning and development opportunities to craft your career path, life and health insurance, medical care package and many others.<br><br>We support our people to learn and grow in a diverse and challenging environment.
