Job Summary

Pets in our facility must be cared for promptly, every day. The facility is staffed 365 days a year and is exceptionally busy when schools are on holiday recess. Must be able to work morning, evening/night shift, holidays and weekends. Experience is desired, however a genuine love for animals is a must. You must be able to handle dogs of all sizes without being afraid of them and without allowing them to control you. You must be in good physical condition, able to squat, stoop, bend, lift, and do a lot of walking. Must be willing to maintain the highest standards in cleanliness. There will be opportunities for advancement, if you excel.

Purpose of Job The Daycare Attendant’s role is to help manage safe and controlled playgroups and to oversee the total care of all the dogs in the facility on any given day. This position is critical as you will help to maintain the high standard and quality of individualized care our customers have come to expect here at Piper's Playhouse. Paying attention to the details, communication and teamwork are the top priorities of this job and Management will have high expectations that you are following company protocol at all times in order to be an excellent example for all team members.

Expectations and Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Managing playgroups with 10+ dogs (both small and large)

- Integrate new dogs into the pack following the protocol and evaluate throughout the day

- Completing paperwork while monitoring dogs (Work sheets and daily notes)

- Constantly be touching and feeling the dogs, looking at feet, ears, teeth, etc… so we can communicate to clients when a dog is in need of a nail trim, teeth clean, groom, or if there’s anything concerning that a vet should evaluate

- Have a good understanding of canine first aid and take the lead on any first aid care needed on the floor

- Observe dogs for any and all odd behaviors, signs of illness or injury and report to manager if anything of concern comes to your attention

- Spot clean-ups of the play area continuously throughout the day

- Escorting animals throughout all areas of facility while on leash

- Ensure that the dogs have fresh water at all times

- Feeding animals

- Dishes

- Assist other teammates when retrieving dogs from playrooms

- Ensure that all important information from the day is effectively communicated to the next shift

- Ability to lift food and belongings weighing up to 50 pounds

- Handle animals weighing up to 150 pounds

- Work standing, walking and bending for 5-10 hour shifts

- Stamina to work with energetic dogs, while ensuring our facility is inviting and sanitary

Qualifications and Skills

- 18 years or older

- Available to work weekends and Holidays

- Basic understanding of dog communication and handling

- Excellent work history and references

- Previous experience in a pet facility or pet care environment is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
