Director Revenue Accounting

This senior management position provides strategic direction and oversight for the revenue function to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records and regulatory reporting. This position will be responsible for tax strategy and regulatory compliance, including process and policy development, 1099 reporting, oil & gas regulatory items and other areas as may become necessary. Job Duties & Responsibilities: Directs and designs the activities for the revenue department as well as provide administrative direction and support for the activities of a team of leaders and employees Manage the indirect tax and accounting regulatory group for Diamondback Energy, its subsidiaries and department employees Responsible for the development, documentation and adherence to company policies and procedures as it relates to the revenue, indirect tax and accounting regulatory departments Directs the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, management's discussion, analysis and supporting schedules Sets accounting policy and procedures and acts at a strategic level within the department and across disciplines Evaluates highly significant accounting transactions, research and implementation of relevant accounting technical standards and preparation of accounting memos supporting all accounting positions Ensures the timely filing and payment of production/severance reports, ad valorem taxes and sales and use tax for various state regulatory agencies Ensures that operational and design effectiveness of internal controls are maintained Ensures transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported in accordance with the company policies, GAAP and SOX controls Ensures the accurate and timely preparation and delivery of all regular and ad hoc management reports Reviews business processes for continuous improvement in procedures through optimal utilization of systems and personnel Participates in department operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources Participates in decisions involving hiring, promotion, compensation administration, performance management, and termination of employment Represents Accounting Department and Diamondback Energy within the industry and across regulatory agencies Participates in implementation of new accounting systems, processes, and procedures Performs other duties as assigned Job Specific Skills: Expert knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial markets and reporting of financial data Ability to foster teamwork through the encouragement and building of mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members Able to assign, delegate, and direct the work of others, provide on-the-job training, performance assessment, coaching, motivation, and career development to employees Expert knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique and the coordination of people and resources Able to show flexibility in response to change and adapt to and accommodate new policies, procedures, and technology Ability to build strong relationships and interact with outside parties and executive leadership Foster and support the company culture Ability to multi-task on competing and deadline sensitive priorities Strong analytical, problem solving and collaborative skills Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a similar discipline Minimum of twelve (12+) years of experience in accounting for an upstream oil and gas company with at least five (5+) of those in a revenue function Five (5+) or more years of experience in progressive accounting or tax leadership roles Strong working knowledge of revenue accounting, production, and general accounting principles Preferred Qualifications: CPA certification Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field Minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience with an Oil and Gas upstream company preferred with at least ten (10+) of those in a revenue function Relocation: This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
