Job Summary: 
NexGen Technologies, Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced GIS Systems Engineer to support the Client in engineering, sustaining, and modernizing its Enterprise Geographic Information Systems (EGIS) infrastructure. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the agency's mission-critical geospatial platforms. The Systems Engineer III will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing GIS systems hosted in cloud-based and virtual environments, including deploying and integrating ESRI and open-source GIS technologies. This role requires hands-on experience with scripting, monitoring tools, and platform security, as well as the ability to translate business requirements into stable, scalable technical solutions. This individual will work closely with members of NexGen's internal and client teams, including but not limited to subject matter experts, technical leads, and project managers, to ensure customer satisfaction and drive innovative solutions while maintaining security standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (as assigned): 
- Perform proactive availability and performance monitoring of EGIS platforms using industry-standard tools and custom scripts (PowerShell, Python).
- Maintain the cybersecurity posture of systems by implementing STIG controls, CVE remediation, firewall configurations, and SSL certificate management.
- Support and contribute to Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and testing efforts to ensure system resilience and continuity.
- Participate in the design and deployment of new GIS systems architecture using Azure services, ensuring scalability and high availability.
- Automate system installation, configuration, and software deployments using scripting and Configuration as Code (CaC) frameworks.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and application-level issues related to geospatial performance, login/authentication, and service availability.
- Collaborate with developers, administrators, and Client IT staff on the integration of GIS systems with O365 applications, enterprise databases, and DevOps environments.
- Document system architectures, configurations, baseline performance metrics, and remediation plans.

Technical Skills: 
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, including 2+ years supporting geospatial or GIS platforms in enterprise environments.
- Understanding of cloud-hosted environments Azure and monitoring tools (e.g., ArcGIS Monitor, Azure Dashboards, preferably in a FedRAMP environment.
- Experience supporting ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, Story Maps, Experience Builder, Field Maps, and Survey123.
- Proficiency with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Enterprise Geodatabases hosted in Azure.
- Strong scripting experience using PowerShell, Python, and SQL.
- Ability to integrate EGIS systems with DevOps pipelines, Agile workflows, and version control platforms (e.g., Git).
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, including 2+ years supporting geospatial or GIS platforms in enterprise environments.
- Understanding of cloud-hosted environments Azure and monitoring tools (e.g., ArcGIS Monitor, Azure Dashboards, preferably in a FedRAMP environment.
- Experience supporting ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, Story Maps, Experience Builder, Field Maps, and Survey123.
