Health Safety Environment Engineer

<p><strong>Role Purpose </strong></p><p> </p><p>We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a positive safety culture, and implementing effective HSE policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have completed their NEBOSH Diploma or similar and possess a strong understanding of HSE best practices. This position requires keen attention to detail, excellent organizational, interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment and be willing to travel.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Areas of Responsibility</strong> </p><ul><li>Maintain health, safety and environment legal compliance for the project</li><li>Promote and lead a positive safety culture and safety work practices. </li><li>Review and approve Risk Assessments and project risk management documentation.</li><li>Report, maintain and mitigate hazard observations.</li><li>Provide HSE training and project inductions, mentor employees and subcontractor staff on health, safety & environment matters.</li><li>Investigate incidents and accidents using a defined investigation model.</li><li>Highlight and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence as instructed by the health and safety manager.</li><li>Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices and propose new innovative HSE solutions.</li><li>Assist and maintain legal compliance to company ISO standards, and project specific compliance documentation.</li><li>Develop and maintain a strong relationship with clients.</li><li>Implement HSE initiatives and incentives programs.</li><li>Take a leading role in auditing, inspections site, vessel and equipment operations.</li><li>Maintain project HSE action tracker and deliverables register. </li><li>Take a leading role in project HAZID / HAZOP and Hira reviews and assessments and maintaining the assessment schedule. </li><li>Highlight and resolve deficiencies in HSE policies, procedures & Safe systems of work.</li><li>Support site / vessel operational works.</li><li>Lead project safety campaign schedule and implementation.</li><li>Support and take part in new equipment design safety, FMEA’s and emergency response reviews.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Tasks</strong></p><ul><li>Maintain and coordinate HSE systems and inspections for the project in conjunction with the HSE Manager to maintain legal compliance and project deliverables.</li><li>Write and maintain project documentation, i.e. SHE projects plans and environmental documentation.</li><li>Maintain a strong HSE presence within the project team, supporting and advising the project team members and contractors on a daily basis. </li><li>Compile weekly project reporting and HSE statistics to the project teams and client.</li><li>Write and deliver specific HSE training programs for the project.</li><li>Take part in equipment design safety reviews and HIRA’s.</li><li>Develop and deliver HSE training programs and HSE initiatives. </li><li>Prepare and maintain HSE documentation, including risk assessments, incident reports, safe systems of work.</li><li>Lead & chair the project safe working group meetings. </li><li>Coordinate emergency response plans and conduct regular drills. </li><li>Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).</li><li>Waste management and environmental protection initiatives.</li><li>Manage Contractor Safety<strong>:</strong> Oversee the safety performance of contractors and ensure they comply with the organization’s & project HSE procedures.</li><li>Behavioural Safety Programs<strong>:</strong> Develop and implement programs that focus on improving safety behaviours and attitudes among employees.</li></ul><p><br></p><ul><li><strong>Regulatory Compliance Audits:</strong> Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards.</li><li>Co-ordinate project CSR programs and carbon footprint reporting.</li><li>Lead and coordinate environmental subjects, procedures and inspections to maintain compliance. </li><li>Be the HSE interface of the project with the project team, client and sub-contractors.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Measurables</strong> </p><ul><li>Reduction in the number of workplace incidents and accidents.</li><li>Compliance with HSE policies and procedures.</li><li>Number of HSE training sessions conducted and employee participation rates.</li><li>Timeliness and accuracy of incident and accident reporting.</li><li>Improvement in audit and inspection scores.</li><li>Employee & client feedback on HSE initiatives and training effectiveness.</li><li>Successful completion of regulatory inspections and audits without major findings.</li><li>Reduction in environmental impact metrics (e.g., waste generation, emissions)</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Behaviors</strong> <em>(identify the personal skills associated with the role (i.e., communication, teamwork).
