Part-time contract opportunity for social workers and helping professionals — get paid and get practice
I'm building a small on-call pool of backup facilitators for SpeakCalmHQ™ Practice Clubs. This is an online community helping professionals overcome high public speaking anxiety and panic through guided speaking exposures on Zoom. Members are professionals, ages 28–50, from around the world.
This is a part-time, independent contractor (1099) role — not a permanent position, and not a guaranteed schedule.
Here's how it works: when a session needs coverage, I go down a contact list. You decide whether to take it. You're not obligated, but I'm looking for people who are motivated to say yes when they're available. You'll typically have a week or more of advance notice, though occasionally less if a facilitator has an unexpected emergency. Some weeks you may facilitate once or more. Some weeks, not at all.
Current Practice Club sessions (Eastern Time):
- Monday 6:45 AM
- Tuesday 1:00 PM
- Wednesday 8:30 PM
- Thursday 8:00 PM
- Saturday 1:00 PM
- $20 per session. A session is about 1 hour but might run a bit over.
- Real facilitation practice. You'll run a small, structured group through a speaking exercise — guiding participants, managing group dynamics, giving feedback. That's directly applicable to social work and counseling practice, and it looks good on your resume or CV.
- Public speaking practice. You'll be on camera, leading a group, and managing anxiety in the room — including your own. This role was specifically designed with helping professionals in mind who may still be working through their own speaking anxiety. That's not a disqualifier here. It's actually a plus.
What I'm looking for:
- Background in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related helping field — students and early-career professionals welcome
- Reliable when you say yes
- Some personal experience with public speaking anxiety — you don't need to have fully "overcome" it, but you need to be in a place where you can facilitate a group through it
- Comfortable on Zoom
- Genuinely motivated to take assignments when available, even with an unpredictable schedule
