Partner/ Chief Legal Officer at Venture-backed, AI-Native Law Firm

About Us We’re building the legal infrastructure modern startups need — combining intelligent automation with on-demand legal expertise. Our AI-native platform eliminates outdated workflows across contract review, compliance, HR legal, SOC 2 readiness, and fundraising - delivering fast, affordable, and risk-aware legal solutions for startups. Our mission: Create the first vertically integrated, tech-powered law firm designed from the ground up for scale — AI for automation, lawyers for judgment, and SaaS for predictable pricing. The Opportunity We’re looking for a Chief Legal Officer (CLO) / Partner to co-lead the legal arm of this venture. This is a foundational role in building a next-generation legal business that merges cutting-edge technology with high-quality legal services for startups. As CLO, you’ll oversee legal service delivery, design scalable workflows, and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions — while shaping the strategic direction of our hybrid SaaS + legal model. You’ll work hand-in-hand with the founding team to transform how legal support is delivered to high-growth companies. What You’ll Do Strategic Leadership • Serve as the legal co-founder and senior advisor on all matters of regulatory compliance, UPL boundaries, and risk management. • Define the legal structure for the hybrid model (tech entity + law firm entity) and oversee multi-jurisdictional licensing as we scale. • Help shape the pricing and delivery model for legal services integrated with our SaaS product. Legal Service Delivery • Develop and maintain a scalable legal review framework using flat-fee and subscription-based models. • Oversee the creation and upkeep of legal templates, compliance content, and jurisdictional updates. • Implement processes for AI-assisted legal workflows with human-in-the-loop review for risk-sensitive matters. Operations & Compliance • Ensure the platform and law firm operate within UPL-safe frameworks and meet ethical and professional standards. • Build internal policies for client intake, engagement letters, disclaimers, and document management. • Collaborate with the product team to embed legal guardrails into the platform. Team & Growth • Recruit, mentor, and manage a small but high-performing team of attorneys and legal ops specialists as we grow. • Act as a trusted point of escalation for complex legal matters. • Build relationships with regulators, legal tech communities, and strategic partners to advance our mission. Who You Are • Licensed U.S. Attorney in good standing (multi-state experience preferred; DE/CA/NY/TX a plus). • 8+ years of experience in corporate law, venture financing, or startup advisory (BigLaw + in-house experience ideal). • Deep understanding of startup legal needs: fundraising (SAFEs, convertible notes, equity), employment law, commercial contracts, and compliance. • Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable operating in ambiguity, building processes from scratch, and wearing multiple hats. • Excited by legal innovation, automation, and the future of AI in professional services. • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing legal teams or practice groups. Why Join Us • Ground-Floor Equity: This is a true partner-level opportunity with significant ownership in a company redefining legal infrastructure. • Category Creation: Be at the forefront of legal tech innovation, building the first AI-native law firm designed for startups. • Massive Market: Startups and SMBs spend $25B+ annually on legal services — and that market is shifting fast toward technology-first solutions. • Mission-Driven Team: Work alongside founders obsessed with making legal accessible, affordable, and scalable for innovators. Compensation • Equity: Significant co-founder-level equity stake • Cash: Competitive early-stage salary structure, with meaningful increases tied to upcoming fundraising milestones • Upside: Opportunity to share in law firm profits and platform success Apply tot his job Apply tot his job
