The Role

The Principal Officer serves as Lloyd's senior representative in GIFT City, accountable for safeguarding Lloyd's regulatory standing, trading rights, and longterm strategic interests in India. The role provides strategic leadership across regulatory engagement, market development and operational management, ensuring that Lloyd's presence in GIFT City operates with integrity, resilience and commercial relevance. By combining authoritative regulatory oversight with proactive external engagement and effective organisational leadership, the Principal Officer strengthens Lloyd's reputation, advances strategic priorities and supports the sustainable growth of the Lloyd's market in the region.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Represent Lloyd's and Lloyd's underwriters to ensure full compliance with IFSCA regulations while providing strategic regulatory leadership to shape a stable, progressive supervisory environment that supports Lloyd's longterm trading rights in India and the wider region

  • Monitor and provide oversight of all service company activities, ensuring effective governance, robust control frameworks, and appropriate runoff arrangements when required while embedding strengthened escalation processes and proactive supervisory engagement

  • Ensure that all regulatory returns, as required by IFSCA are submitted accurately and within required deadlines and champion internal quality assurance processes to enhance accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory confidence.

  • Identify threats to Lloyd's trading rights and address as necessary working closely with the International Regulatory Affairs team to influence policy development and protect market access at both national and regional levels.

  • Implement, drive and monitor Lloyd's strategic priorities in GIFT City ensuring full alignment with the broader APMEA regional strategy and contributing to regional strategic planning through market intelligence and forwardlooking insights

  • Oversee endtoend branch operations, including financial management, payments, accounts, and compliance with Lloyd's operational, financial and risk frameworks while ensuring high standards of operational resilience, audit readiness, and business continuity planning.

  • Lead and develop the GIFT City team and matrix resources to deliver operational, regulatory and strategic objectives fostering a culture of accountability, high performance and alignment with Lloyd's values, while ensuring coaching, development and succession planning.

  • Create and deliver demonstrable value to managing agents, service companies and brokers by supporting their business development objectives in GIFT City including proactive engagement, strategic advisory support and facilitation of new opportunities.

  • Act as a senior advisor to potential new service companies seeking to establish operations on the Lloyd's GIFT City platform providing strategic guidance on suitability, readiness and market fit.

  • Review and evaluate new service company applications to ensure adequate resources, systems, controls and governance arrangements are in place with enhanced focus on alignment with Lloyd's global standards, IFSCA requirements, and longterm platform sustainability.

  • Work with the IFSCA to provide help and information relating to Lloyd's, as required and represent Lloyd's in seniorlevel regulatory consultations, working groups and policy discussions to strengthen Lloyd's position and influence.

  • Identify, develop and maintain seniorlevel relationships with key business producers in the region, including brokers, cedants, risk managers and government/industry stakeholders to support market development, enhance Lloyd's presence, and expand commercial opportunities for the platform.

  • Provide strategic market intelligence, regulatory insights and commercial analysis to APMEA leadership and Global Markets, enabling informed decisionmaking and contributing to regional and global strategic priorities.

  • Act as Lloyd's senior spokesperson for the GIFT City platform, representing Lloyd's at industry conferences, regulatory dialogues, government engagements and market forums to elevate the profile and credibility of Lloyd's India.
