Product Owner - Marketing Technology

A Product Owner-Marketing Technology will leverage product management expertise to define, build, and scale O’Reilly’s MarTech product landscape. This position will play a key role in shaping how O’Reilly leverages customer data, marketing automation, and personalization platforms to drive engagement and long-term loyalty across digital and in-store channels. The Product Owner will partner with Marketing, Engineering, and Product teams to create a modern, integrated MarTech stack that aligns with business goals, technical feasibility, and customer outcomes. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Owns the MarTech product vision and strategy, building and socializing a roadmap for an integrated, ground-up MarTech stack. Partners with Marketing, CX, Product, and IT stakeholders to align platform capabilities with business needs and customer engagement goals. Defines and prioritizes opportunities in a structured product backlog, leveraging frameworks (RICE, MoSCoW, outcome-driven hypotheses) to guide investment. Leads discovery and intake processes for MarTech initiatives, translating business requests into clear product opportunities. Collaborates with Engineering and Design teams to guide discovery, design, and delivery of solutions that balance technical feasibility with business outcomes. Defines KPIs and success metrics, runs experiments, and reports on adoption, engagement, and ROI of MarTech initiatives. Serves as subject matter expert on MarTech tools, trends, and best practices, helping O’Reilly maximize value from marketing platforms and customer data. Ensures integration of email, SMS, personalization, analytics, and customer data platforms into a scalable, enterprise-ready ecosystem. Supports change management efforts, enabling Marketing and cross-functional teams to adopt new capabilities and processes. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or related field. 5+ years of product management or product ownership experience, with direct MarTech or marketing automation platform expertise strongly preferred. Strong understanding of email/SMS marketing, loyalty platforms, customer data platforms (CDPs), journey orchestration, and personalization engines. Ability to translate business strategy into technical solutions and communicate effectively with executives, marketers, and engineers. Experience defining KPIs, running A/B or multivariate experiments, and making data-driven product decisions. Proven ability to manage a structured backlog and deliver in an agile, product-driven environment. Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills. Curiosity and adaptability with emerging MarTech capabilities, able to guide the business through change and innovation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Hands-on experience with one or more MarTech tools such as: Email/SMS: Listrak, Iterable Social Care: Sprinklr Voice of the Customer: Medallia CMS & Personalization: Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Target, Adobe DAM Background in retail, loyalty, or customer engagement platforms.
