[Remote] GitLab Buildout Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Insight Global is seeking to hire a GitLab Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and secure a scalable GitLab platform that powers modern DevOps. The role involves architecting a zero-trust GitLab infrastructure, implementing security measures, and integrating GitLab pipelines with existing systems.


Responsibilities

  • Architect a zero‑trust GitLab infrastructure that limits communication to the absolute minimum
  • Build secure remote sync mechanisms for cross‑team collaboration and collaboration with outside developers
  • Implement comprehensive scanning (code/IP, static analysis, malware) and image‑repo security
  • Seamlessly integrate GitLab pipelines with VMWare or Red Hat OpenShift using GitOps (Flux/ArgoCD) for application deployment
  • Deliver clean, Wiki‑compatible documentation
  • Deliver clean network architecture and data flow diagrams
  • Engage proactively in planning, daily stand‑ups, updates to Department manager and knowledge transfer to empower the team

Skills

  • 5+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure roles
  • 3+ years administering GitLab (CI/CD, runners, admin)
  • Strong IaC experience (Terraform, Ansible, or similar)
  • Robust Linux, networking, and security fundamentals
  • Scripting in Bash or Python
  • Hands‑on experience with AWS
  • Banking/financial services experience
  • Kubernetes, VMWare and OpenShift exposure
  • GitLab certifications or CI/CD specialist credentials
  • Modernizing legacy CI/CD (Jenkins, Bitbucket, SVN)
