Key Responsibilities: Attend virtual and/or in-person film screenings, festivals, and other arts events (as required and feasible). Write in-depth reviews, critical essays, and features on a wide range of films, from blockbusters to independent productions. Develop and maintain a strong voice and unique perspective on cinema and contemporary arts. Conduct interviews with filmmakers, actors, artists, and industry professionals. Contribute to broader arts coverage, including theater, music, and visual arts, as needed. Engage with our online community through comments, social media, and potential live Q&A sessions. Research historical and contextual information to enrich critical analysis. Collaborate with the editorial team to identify trending topics and potential feature ideas. Ensure all content adheres to journalistic standards, ethical guidelines, and our client's style guide. Stay current with industry news, emerging talent, and critical trends in film and the arts worldwide. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Film Studies, English, Journalism, Art History, or a related humanities field. A Master's degree or equivalent professional experience is a plus. Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in film criticism, arts journalism, or a related field, with a strong portfolio of published work. Exceptional writing, editing, and analytical skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and compellingly. A broad knowledge of film history, theory, and international cinema, as well as a keen awareness of current artistic movements. Proven ability to conduct insightful interviews and build rapport with creative professionals. Familiarity with digital media platforms and social media engagement strategies. Self-motivated and disciplined, with a proven ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a remote work setting. Excellent research skills and a commitment to accuracy. Adaptability to cover various art forms beyond film. Passion for storytelling and a deep commitment to the power of arts criticism.
