Senior Legal Counsel, Marketplaces and E-Commerce [Remote]

<p> LEGAL<br /> What We Do<br /> Epic's multi-specialized team of attorneys and legal professionals partner across our organization to provide legal solutions as well as consult and inform on the products we build and games we develop.<br /> What You'll Do<br /> Epic's Marketplaces Legal team supports Epic's digital marketplaces including the Epic Games Store (PC, Mac, iOS, and Android), Fab, Sketchfab, and Artstation. As a part of this support, the Marketplaces Legal team helps the product teams navigate emerging payment regulations ensuring Epic's compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.<br /> In this role, you will<br /> • Advise business and product teams on legal and regulatory requirements applicable to prepaid balances, loyalty points, payments, and e-commerce<br /> • Provide legal advice for international expansion of Epic's digital storefronts (both PC and mobile) and related services, including licensing requirements and local compliance considerations<br /> • Monitor legal and regulatory developments in the payments industry, advising on their impact and ensuring Epic's compliance with these regulations, liaising with regulators on issues related to compliance with local laws<br /> • Advise on the structuring of payment flows for both pay-ins and payouts<br /> • Carry out a legal risk assessment in relation to fraud prevention, AML, and liability allocation<br /> • Act as a liaison among Legal, Compliance, Business, Product Development and Operations teams to ensure alignment on payment-related legal and regulatory matters. Participate in escalation, strategy, and planning discussions with Epic's leadership<br /> • Collaborate with outside counsels, subject matter expert counsels and stakeholders on Regulatory, Compliance, Privacy, Trust and Safety, and Litigation teams, supervising and executing the implementation of advice in Epic's products<br /> What we're looking for<br /> • Licensed in good standing to practice law; 6+ years legal experience, including 3+ years relevant experience focused on e-commerce/payments/fintech/digital marketplaces (in-house experience at a fast-paced technology company preferred)<br /> • Knowledge of PSD2, AMLD, GDPR, Card Scheme Rules and related regulatory frameworks governing payment services, prepaid access instruments, e-money and money service businesses<br /> • Understanding of digital storefronts and alternative mobile app stores<br /> • Familiarity with legal issues related to virtual in-game currency<br /> • Proven experience advising on wallets, prepaid balances, loyalty points, and payments<br /> • Strong issue-spotting skills; agile in prioritizing and meeting deadlines<br /> • Tech-savvy and have hands-on experience working with legal technology and legal technologists to drive process and efficiency in an in-house legal department<br /> • Strong verbal and written communication skills, an ability to operate autonomously as a legal generalist and as an expert in payments and e-commerce while exercising good judgment about escalation and collaboration<br /> This role is open to multiple locations across North America and Europe (including CA, NYC, & WA).<br /> <br /> Pay Transparency Information<br /> The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below.
