Job Description:

Department Overview

The Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) department of TD Bank is responsible for overseeing the management of TD Bank’s: non-trading market risk, liquidity risk and capital position.

The Canadian Funds Transfer Pricing and Business Advisory (FTP BA) team within TBSM supports the Bank's Product Profitability and Product Management through:

  • Defining the Funds Transfer Pricing methodologies and frameworks used in evaluating the margins and NII performance of the Bank’s various products

  • Setting the Funds Transfer Pricing rates which drive product pricing and margin measurement

  • Working with TD's various Deposit and Lending Product Businesses to support effective product pricing and providing Treasury centric advice

  • Understanding the risks of each product and developing methodology to reflect those risks in pricing

  • Understanding business profitability drivers and recommending strategies to achieve stable and predictable margins.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • The Senior Manager, CDN Funds Transfer Pricing and Business Advisory (FTP) is accountable for supporting all of TD's CDN Commercial Banking products for Treasury.

  • The role works extensively with Product Managers and Finance groups to explain FTP results and Treasury's impacts on the Business

  • Analyzing product performance and product trends to ensure Treasury's product management and FTP measurements remain appropriate.

  • Enhancing Treasury's transfer pricing practices and generating solutions to optimize the bank’s NII.

Key Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Responsible for FTP assumptions and methodologies for TD's Deposit and Lending products

  • Acting as a department subject matter expert and specialist for CDN deposit and lending products. Ensuring these products features and financial risks are well understood.

  • Ensure the practices of Treasury and FTP are understood by the businesses in relatable, meaningful and practical terms.

  • Work with TD's Product Managers to support new product initiatives, business changes and pricing initiatives.

  • Lead initiatives to improve FTP practices, product risk measurement and hedging.

  • Provide timely updates to Senior Management of significant developments in TD’s margins, NII and product trends.

  • Developing a strong understanding of Treasury and Risk Management concepts and how they relate to the Bank's products.

  • Develop positive working relationships with business partners and project stakeholders (i.e. segment CFOs, Product Owners, TBSM executives and leaders in Finance and Risk)

  • Foster a motivated and engaging work environment focused on developing the team and the group's capabilities.

Specific Educational Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (ex. Finance, Business, Economics, etc.)

  • MBA, CPA, CFA considered an asset

Qualifications:

Familiarity with:

  • The features and characteristics of retail banking products.

  • Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) concepts and their application to personal and commercial, Loan and Deposit products.

  • Principles of treasury risk management pillars: market & interest rate risk, funding & liquidity risk, as well as capital management.

This position requires a highly results-oriented individual who has :

  • Experience in finance/accounting, bank treasury, capital markets or other relevant experiences

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance and/or Economics

  • Valued designations: CPA, FRM, CFA, MBA

Experience with:

  • Relating complex financial concepts in terms understandable to all audiences

  • Intuitive understanding of how capital markets function

  • Capital markets concepts: Fair valuing securities, yield curves, financial product features, ALM hedging techniques/strategies, and wholesale bank funding programs.

  • Financial and statistical analysis

Competencies and Personal Qualities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities to help support managing many different and competing requirements

  • Ability to teach skills and concepts to colleagues and staff

  • Demonstrated strong analytical abilities

Work activities include a blend of highly collaborative activities and individual deliverables. Individuals are expected to be onsite 4 days a week. Colleagues may spend more or less days in office as required by the business line
