Senior Tax Advisor Job Description We are a 100% virtual CPA firm with our team located all over the United States. As a Senior Advisor at our firm, you will primarily be involved in tax planning and advisory services for real estate investors and small business owners. Generally Senior Advisors will spend 50% of their time directly with clients via Zoom. Senior Advisors will also provide technical input on tax and accounting issues, research tax solutions, provide training to less experienced staff, and nurture client relationships. The most important characteristic of our Advisory team is that we deliver on promises and meet deadlines. Our clients depend on us to guide them through complex issues and provide them with practical steps to implement our recommended strategies or positions (or minimize their tax liability). This can include delivering complex information in a manner which the client can absorb and apply practically. Our job is to build strong foundations of trust by delivering when we say we will, and doing so in a clear and concise manner. We measure our success in accuracy, clarity, and ability to lead projects to success. Having a passion for and/or experience with tax planning and/or real estate investing is a strong plus. Annual Salary + Bonus: $115,000 - $155,00 Areas of Responsibility • Serve as the primary client contact, ensuring their best interests are represented, with up to 50% of time spent meeting with clients via Zoom • Create and deliver tailored tax plans to clients, and update those plans periodically • Maintain strong client relationships by managing their expectations, being responsive to their communications/emails, and reaching out proactively • Research complex tax issues, citing the Internal Revenue Code and supporting sources, and provide recommendations for resolution • Coordinate client’s tax preparation needs with the tax preparation team, and assist with client communication during tax season to ensure proposed strategies are implemented • Remain updated on changes in tax laws and procedures Measures for Success • Achieve an average of 9/10 on your Net Promoter Score surveys • Delivering on your promises with clients and maintaining strong client relationships • Participation in expansion of firm technical knowledge through research and collaboration with internal teams Expectations for remote work • Clean background with no noise or distractions • Business casual attire for client interactions • Always use video (80% of communication is non-verbal) • We provide a laptop and annual $500 tech reimbursement for computer/tech accessories You’re a Good Fit For Our Culture If: • You’re friendly, have a sense of humor, enjoy helping and teaching others, and speak kindly of others • You’re disciplined and thrive in a fast-paced environment that is in relentless pursuit of changing the accounting industry • You have exceptional time management and an internal drive to succeed • You possess excellent communication and listening skills, breaking down barriers to solve problems and improve operational performance • You take ownership of your work and clients, and drive projects to the finish line • You love working with and speaking to clients, delivering results and improving their lives Required Education and Experience: • CPA or EA Certification (CPA Preferred) • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Tax from an accredited college or university • Minimum of 5-7 years of real estate and small business tax compliance and/or planning experience. • Experience working directly with clients, managing client relationships, and ensuring engagement objectives are met accurately and on-time. • Experience performing tax projections and estimates using professional tax planning software (e.g. BNA Tax Planner, CCH Prosystem fx Planning, etc). • Effective written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
