What to Expect

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Supply Operations Manager to support our development teams and contract manufacturing partners in the sourcing of Direct Supply Chain components and parts. These could include specific parts related to one of our five automobiles (Model 3¸Model Y, Cybertruck, Cybercab, and Semi truck), Tesla Energy, Batteries and/or any other components intrinsic to the successful running of the organization. This role will report to our Supply Chain Group Manager and in parallel be an active sourcing resource supporting our various Engineering groups within Tesla. She/he will be a member of our Supply Chain Organization supporting the development, implementation, and management of strategies to provide Tesla with optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality, and delivery performance. The Supply Operations Manager builds and leverages strong working relationships with our Design, Industrial engineering teams and key suppliers to assure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met. They work toward good supplier relationships and total costs of ownership to achieve maximum advantage for Tesla and our customers. The successful candidate will be a self-starter; motivated with expert overall Sourcing Expertise.


What You'll Do


  • Collaborate with Global Supply Managers and Regional Supply Operations Managers to ensure commodity strategy aligns across all Tesla product platforms
  • Monitor current category market conditions, technology roadmaps and identify supply/demand challenges & opportunities. Track raw material, Forex, other market conditions to manage risk of cost impacts
  • Build and develop cost models by developing a thorough understating of the manufacturing process and aid the commodity GSMs in commercial cost negotiations
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance post Sourcing, including but not limited to dispute resolution
  • Support the vendor selection process with commodity GSM’s
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and present recommendations that will result in cost savings, avoidance, or containment
  • Develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that deliver against business objectives and achieves sustainable relationships with suppliers


What You'll Bring


  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering and/or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability
  • Automotive experience (preferably from a tier one supplier or OEM) in a purchasing, quality, or launch position
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with New product Introductions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross functional stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment
  • Passionate about Tesla’s mission
