Virtual Internship Teacher / Mentor (AI, Innovation and Career Skills)
Purpose of Role:
The main purpose of this role is to deliver structured, engaging, and student centred virtual learning sessions as part of the XPLORA Virtual Internship Programme. The Teacher or Mentor will guide students through project based, internship style experiences focused on AI literacy, innovation, research, and career readiness.
You will work with small international cohorts, supporting students to apply concepts through guided projects, teamwork, and presentations. A strong emphasis is placed on critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and real world application. The role aims to create a safe, motivating, and academically structured environment where students gain confidence, practical skills, and portfolio ready outcomes.
This is a unique virtual learning experience designed to simulate professional expectations while remaining age appropriate and supportive.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Participate in teacher briefings, onboarding sessions, and programme planning meetings.
- Deliver live, interactive virtual workshops aligned with the XPLORA curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans, activities, and digital resources in advance of sessions.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and student participation logs.
- Provide structured feedback on student progress, engagement, and project outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with XPLORA safeguarding policies and online learning protocols.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality, student centred virtual sessions using discussion based and project based learning methods.
- Facilitate group projects focused on AI, innovation, research, and problem solving.
- Use digital collaboration tools such as shared documents and project workspaces to support learning.
- Support students with varying academic levels and learning styles.
- Assess student work using provided rubrics and guidelines.
- Guide students in preparing presentations, portfolios, and final submissions.
- Provide regular updates to the Program Director on cohort progress and any academic concerns.
Student Engagement and Welfare
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive online learning environment.
- Encourage active participation, teamwork, and professional communication.
- Support students who may face learning challenges or confidence barriers.
- Monitor student wellbeing and engagement in a virtual setting.
- Report any safeguarding, welfare, or conduct concerns promptly to the Program Director.
Health, Safety and Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Ensure all online sessions are conducted in a safe, controlled, and professional manner.
- Adhere strictly to XPLORA safeguarding, data protection, and online conduct policies.
- Follow escalation procedures for any safeguarding or welfare concerns.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times when working with minors.
Skills and Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology, Business, Social Sciences, Design, or a related field.
- Minimum two years of experience in teaching, training, mentoring, or facilitation, either online or in person.
- Strong working knowledge of AI tools such as ChatGPT or equivalent.
- Experience delivering interactive or project based learning.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Confidence working with international students in an online environment.
- Background verification clearance, mandatory for working with minors.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree or higher.
- Experience in international education, summer programmes, or enrichment courses.
- Familiarity with design thinking, research projects, or innovation frameworks.
- Experience with virtual collaboration platforms and digital learning environments.
- Prior experience in career readiness or employability skills training.
Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Pay: £15.00-£40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
