Location: Remote / Nationwide (must be available for scheduled SSA hearings)
Position Overview
Madison Avenue Support Services, Inc. (MASS) is seeking experienced Vocational Expert Witnesses to support Social Security Administration disability hearings. The Vocational Expert provides impartial vocational testimony regarding a claimant’s ability to perform past relevant work or other work in the national economy based on hypothetical scenarios presented during administrative hearings.
This role requires prior experience serving as a Vocational Expert for SSA hearings, strong familiarity with SSA vocational resources, and the ability to deliver clear, defensible testimony before Administrative Law Judges.
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Compensation is structured as 82% of collected VE service fees.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide vocational expert testimony during Social Security disability hearings conducted by SSA Administrative Law Judges.
- Analyze claimant work history and vocational factors including age, education, work experience, and transferable skills.
- Respond to hypothetical questions presented by the Administrative Law Judge or representatives.
- Identify and explain relevant occupations in the national economy, including incidence data.
- Utilize recognized vocational resources such as:
- Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT)
- Selected Characteristics of Occupations (SCO)
- Occupational Outlook data
- Other recognized labor market resources
- Provide clear, concise, and professional testimony that withstands cross-examination.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all SSA procedural expectations.
- Attend hearings as scheduled and maintain professional availability.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience serving as a Vocational Expert for SSA disability hearings is required.
- Ability to provide a current SSA Suitability Letter authorizing participation in hearings.
- Demonstrated expertise in vocational analysis and labor market information.
- Strong understanding of:
- SSA disability hearing process
- DOT/SCO and vocational job classification systems
- Transferable skills analysis
- Excellent verbal communication skills and professional demeanor during testimony.
- Ability to work independently and maintain reliable availability for scheduled hearings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Labor Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as:
- CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor)/CRCC
- Prior experience providing testimony in federal administrative hearings.

Pay: $40.85 - $10,000.00 per year
