The IT Director provides strategic vision, leadership, and operational oversight to ensure reliable, secure, and innovative technology solutions that support teaching, learning, and district operations.This role is critical in advancing instructional technology, maintaining infrastructure, ensuring cybersecurity, and supporting staff and students in a rapidly evolving digital environment.Key Responsibilities-Provide leadership and strategic planning for all district technology initiatives-Oversee districtwide technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, devices, and telecommunications-Ensure cybersecurity, data privacy, disaster recovery, and compliance with state and federal regulations-Manage student information systems, learning management systems, and administrative software-Supervise and evaluate IT staff; provide training and professional development opportunities-Develop and manage the technology budget; oversee purchasing, inventory, and vendor contracts-Collaborate with administrators, educators, and staff to support instructional and operational technology needs-Lead long-range technology planning aligned with district goals and instructional priorities-Serve as a technical advisor to the Superintendent and School Board-Develop policies and procedures related to technology use, security, and data governance-Oversee help desk operations and ensure timely, effective technical support districtwideRequired Qualifications-Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Masters preferred)-Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in IT leadership, preferably in a K12 or public sector environment-Strong knowledge of networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, and cloud-based services-Experience managing budgets, staff, and technology projects-Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiencesPreferred Qualifications-Experience working in a school district or educational setting-Knowledge of student data privacy laws and regulations (FERPA, COPPA, etc.)-Experience with 1:1 device programs and instructional technology initiatives-Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, Network+, Microsoft, Google, or similar)Skills & Attributes-Strong leadership and organizational skills-Collaborative and service-oriented approach-Problem-solver with attention to detail-Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively under pressure-Commitment to supporting students, staff, and educational equity through technologyEOE
