Youth Conservation Corps Crew Leader (Landscaping for a purpose)

Lakes watershed, is seeking energetic Youth Conservation Corps Crew Members.
7 Lakes Alliance’s mission is to conserve the lands and waters of the Belgrade
Lakes Region for all.
Description: Youth Conservation Corps Crew Leaders tackle landscaping projects to minimize erosion. The primary goal of this program is to "keep dirt out of the lake," which is accomplished by planting native buffer plants, installing rip-rap rock barriers, and building infiltration steps. Crew leaders manage teams of up to 6 people, preform heavy physical labor for up to 8 hours a day, and work through a variety of inclement weather.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in completing erosion-control projects in the Belgrade Lakes watershed.
- Complete required paperwork for site tracking.
- Work closely with Field Directors to communicate technical details of projects.
- Install Best Management Practices (BMPs) on properties as designed by the Field Directors.
- Oversee a crew of 5-6 YCC crew members installing BMPs.
- Inspect and photograph project sites before and after completion of work.
- Transport equipment, materials, and/or crew members between project sites using a company vehicle.
- Communicate with Corps supervisors regularly.
- Attend training events as requested.
- Comply with 7 Lakes Alliance policies regarding safety and conduct.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work outdoors with heat, rain, and mosquitos.
- Work as part of a team.
- Punctuality and organizational skills.
- Work 8+ hours a day doing physical labor.
- Must be at least 16 years of age with a valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- Comfortable towing and backing trailers.
- Background in engineering, construction, excavation, landscaping, or environmental sciences preferred.
- Supervisor/leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret instructions and adapt to field conditions based on established objectives.
- Ability to effectively lead and supervise young crew members in completing projects\
- Ability to clearly communicate detailed instructions
Job timeframe:
- Seasonal, 10-14 weeks, up to 40 hours per week.
- Mondays through Fridays with occasional Saturdays.
- Start Date: early-May 2026 for college students, mid-June for high school
